CPAC Releases Washington Legislative Scorecard, Further Illustrating Leftism’s Hold Over America’s Pacific Northwest

ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 1, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals the presence of extraordinary Leftism in Washington state’s legislature. Washington Democrats scored an average of 1% in both legislatures and managed to pass many of the key issues on their agenda.

“Washington’s war on parental rights, businesses, and Second Amendment freedoms is shocking and a terrible reminder of the cost of the Left's mission to make corrupt mass mail-in voting the norm,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “The bills coming out of Washington should worry and disturb people interested in human freedom and dignity.”

CPAC recognizes several lawmakers in the Washington State Legislature for earning CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session.

Senate:

Perry Dozier (89%)

Jim McCune (89%)

Mark Schoesler (89%)

Shelly Short (89%)

Keith Wagoner (89%)

Lynda Wilson (89%)

Matt Boehnke (89%)

Mike Padden (89%)

John Braun (84%)

House:

Jim Walsh (85%)

Chris Corry (80%)

Mary Dye (80%)

Joel McEntire (80%)

Ed Orcutt (80%)

Joe Schmick (80%)

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Washington weaken parental rights, undermine Second Amendment freedoms, and increased the size of the welfare state. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and upholding the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Washington legislature.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
