CPAC Releases Missouri Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Strong Conservatives in the House, Weighed Down by Counterparts in the Senate.

ALEXANDRIA, VA (June 6, 2023) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals a Missouri legislature with a sharp divide between chambers despite a Republican supermajority in both. Less than 30% of Republicans in the Missouri Senate received an award for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time compared to 64% in the House, exposing a lackluster Senate impairing a conservative House.

“CPAC’s analysis shows how Missouri’s Senate leadership defeated or watered-down major conservative policies,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Despite supermajority Republican control of both chambers, Democrat’s in Missouri walked away from this session celebrating.”

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2022 Ratings of Missouri address school curriculum transparency, Second Amendment rights, election integrity, tax reductions, and fairness in women’s sports. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Missouri legislature.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
