CPAC Releases Oklahoma Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a Conservatize Statehouse in the Sooner State

ALEXANDRIA, VA (June 7, 2023) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that Oklahoma lawmakers increased the state’s overall conservative rating over the previous year. While both chambers took a conservative approach to legislating, Republicans in the House raised the average percentage of times each member voted conservatively by four points.

“Under the leadership of Speaker Charles McCall, Oklahoma introduced and passed critical legislation protecting life, elections and girls sports,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “The combination of the strong leadership in both the House and Senate, and the wise decisions of Governor Stitt helped Oklahoma move up in CPAC’s ratings of conservative states.”

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2022 Ratings of Oklahoma address Second Amendment rights, protecting the unborn, safety in women’s sports, and school choice. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Oklahoma legislature.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
