CASM Appoints Jack Kalavritinos as Executive Director

Alexandria, VA – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative and free-market groups including the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, today announced the appointment of Jack Kalavritinos as its new Executive Director.

“Three years after CASM’s launch to counter the left’s attempts to socialize America’s health care system, whether through a full-scale government takeover like Medicare for All, or incremental steps like price controls under the guise of ‘negotiation,’ collective action to protect patient choice, innovation, and the economy is more critical than ever before,” said Kalavritinos. “I am eager to join the fight to safeguard our country from the dire consequences of the far left’s socialized medicine agenda and promote free market solutions that increase access and drive the cures and treatments of tomorrow.”
“We are grateful that Jack has agreed to lead CASM,” said Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Jack brings a wealth of knowledge in the health care space as years of history fighting in the trenches to advance free-market solutions to the challenges facing our nation. He will be a great asset to our coalition as it works to protect America’s patients and taxpayers from the far-left Biden-Pelosi-Sanders health care agenda.”

Kalavritinos, who has more than 25 years of experience in public affairs and health communications, served as director for Intergovernmental and External Affairs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and as the associate commissioner for External Affairs at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He spent over seven years at Medtronic on policy initiatives. He also served as a senior official at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and as the White House Liaison at the Department of Labor.

Most recently, Kalavritinos advised clients on strategic communications, policy, and advocacy as part of JK Strategies and APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council. He received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and his law degree from Catholic University of America.
